3D Cameras

The basic camera will take a picture and allow a consumer to enjoy memories from the past. Like all technology, cameras are evolving. There was the Polaroid, then the disposable camera, and now everybody has a digital camera. Of course cameras are getting smaller and the LCD displays are always getting bigger. Over the last couple of years, the megapixel rate has tripled improving technology on existing ideas is one way for companies to make money off of a product they already have plans on. But what’s next? What is going to be the next “digital camera”? The answer is something that can seem like it came from Back To The Future. The next big thing is the 3D camera.

For businesses, 3D cameras will allow them to show products to their fullest. Haven’t you ever looked at a product display on the Internet and been disappointed that you couldn’t have a better view? Well, the 3D camera would allow consumers to get the full view of a product right in their own home. Although cameras that have this secret 3D technology have been around for a little while, only the biggest companies have been able to afford them. The other issue is a way of displaying the image. What’s the point of having a 3D camera if you can’t see the image in 3D? And would you need 3D glasses to view them? The simple answer is not yet. There are 3D displays on the market that cost around the same as regular monitors or televisions. However, companies are now working on displays that will give off the 3D effect without the need for glasses.

So what about consumers? There are several cameras on the market that are priced modestly for consumers. With just a basic search, you could find one for fewer than one hundred dollars. The problem with the 3D camera for consumers is same that companies are running into. To view a 3D picture, you must have 3D glasses. For consumers who would want this kind of technology, the market pricing is fair, but waiting on a display that can show the image in 3D without the use of glasses would be ideal.
